Midwest Blood provides our Autotransfusionists with clinical hours, letters of recommendation, and a new skill set helping patients in the operating room. All which aid in pursuing future education and career goals, such as MD, DO, PA, Perfusionist, and Nursing.

Autotransfusionists are allied healthcare providers that work alongside the surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses within the operating room. They wash the patient’s own blood that is shed during surgery and reinfuse it to avoid the risks of donor blood transfusions.
